How can I get them to eat more veggies?

10 July 2012 @ 11:55 pm |

My kids eat around their vegetables. How can I get them to eat more veggies?

A: This question always seems to come with a sigh of desperation from parents. There are several approaches I have seen work:
1.Make it fun — don’t be the veggie police!
2.Model veggie lovin’ habits.
3.Keep trying.
4.Sneak ‘em in.

Eating should be pleasurable. There is nothing worse than being forced to eat veggies, so keep it light and fun! Explore the flavours and textures of veggies and how they change between raw, steamed, sautéed or roasted. It’s important to…

The Mighty Dandelion

20 June 2012 @ 9:57 pm |

You are growing a goldmine in your yard. Known as dandelions, these yellowed-headed flowers that brighten your lawn and darken your smile are worth more than their weight in, well, pesticides! An astro-turf lawn may be more stylish, but a dandelion- adorned yard will benefit you in many ways.

Dandelions are vital for pollen collection. Environmentally speaking, they support some ninety-five types of insects, not including bees that rely on their nectar after other flowers have ceased to bloom. Cross- pollination, the work of these bees and winged insects, ensures a healthy and vibrant garden by fertilizing flowers and…

Omega 3 Health Benefits

Omega 3 fatty acids are necessary for human health and development but the body cannot make them. Instead we have to make sure our diets contain foods rich in these fatty acids or by supplementation. Supplementing with Omega 3 from Krill Oil which has these fatty acids in “phospholipid” form rather than the lesser “triglyceride” form found in fish oils allows the body to absorb them more efficiently and easily. There are several key health benefits from supplementing with Cleanmarine® Krill Oil:

CANDIDA albicans

21 May 2012 @ 6:31 pm |

Candida albicans

Candida albicans is a yeast that occurs naturally in the digestive tracts of us all, where it is one of hundreds of yeasts and bacteria that live harmlessly in our intestines.

Problems can occur when candida begins to spread and multiply, and the balance between all these organisms gets upset. Exactly why this happens no one seems sure of – it may be connected to anti-biotics, and certainly you are more susceptible to an imbalance in gut flora after a course of anti-biotics, but it could be any number of factors.

A candida overgrowth will cause…

11 tips for a healthy heart

An apple a day.
The humble apple contains vitamin C and phenols to reduce cholesterol, and before we all had toothbrushes eating an apple was probably one of the best ways to clean your teeth. Given the suspected link between gum disease and heart disease this is probably why we were advised to “eat an apple before going to bed and you’ll keep the doctor from earning his bread”.

Eat dark chocolate.
Dark chocolate raises serotonin levels to keep you happy and calm, while the anti-oxidant flavonoids help lower cholesterol. Most…
