By eating with the seasons, we are eating foods when they are at their peak taste, are the most abundant and the least expensive. When you buy locally, you give those with local farms and pastures an economic reason to remain open and undeveloped.

Perhaps inspired by her famously green son–or her pal Michelle Obama at the White House–Queen Elizabeth II has had an organic garden planted on the grounds of Buckingham Palace, to grow tomatoes, sweetcorn, beets, carrots, and other vegetables for the royal dinner table. The British monarch’s summer estate, Balmoral Castle, has a small hydroelectric plant that generates enough electricity to supply her and her neighbors–and to feed the excess juice back into the grid. Woods on the Scottish property are registered with the Forestry Stewardship Council, all organic waste on the estate is recycled, and security staff patrol on mountain…

Michelle Obama has developed an Organic Garden at the White House. Not since Roosevelts victory Garden of the 1940s has there been a proper garden at Pennsylvania Avenues most famous address. The plot has a full 55 vegetable and fruit varieties and was part planted by local school children. Michelle Obama had apparently even enlisted her husband to do a bit if the weeding. Planted in consulation with the White Houses chefs the organic vegetable garden will provide food for the first families meals. However according to the First Lady the main function of the garden will be educational…

The Easter Bunny was in Dalkey this morning dropping off our Easter eggs from Green and Blacks. Yummy Mummy Maya Gold. Bloody Good Butterscotch. Silky Milky and Devilish Dark Chocolate. Whatever he was on it sounded good.
